Create Scoring Modes
You must have the default Administrator role or a custom role that includes the following permissions to create a new scoring mode:
- Quality > Evaluations > Full Control
- Quality > Evaluation Forms > Full Control
A new custom Scoring Mode can be created from any of these three windows:
- Evaluation Form Management window located at Evaluation > Forms > Scoring Mode
- Create Evaluation Form window located at Evaluation > Forms > New Form icon > Scoring Modes icon (as well as Copy Form and Modify Form)
- In an existing form, click New Scoring Mode in the Scoring Modes drop-down box of the question.
- When selected, a pop-up window titled Custom Scoring Modes appears with a mini-ribbon bar. Click the New icon to configure a custom Scoring Mode.
- Another pop-up window called New Custom Scoring Mode appears. Choose a Name for the answers list that is easily recognizable in a drop-down menu.
- In the Type drop-down menu, select one of the following four answer types to configure the new Scoring Mode:
- Drop-Down List: A standard drop-down list with up to 20 custom answer choices. From right to left:
- Input the Answer in the Text field.
- Select a percentage of available score points for the answer in the Score % number selector. Users are allowed to enter both positive and negative percentages (-1000% to 100%) in increments of 1%. Score calculations are rounded up if greater than 0.5%.
- The N/A checkbox allows users to mark an answer as having no value or not applicable (N/A).
- The Default Radio Button allows the user to choose a default answer to automatically populate on the evaluation. If no default answer is chosen, then the question’s drop-down menu for the evaluator will default to a blank answer.
- Select the Red X to delete an answer.
- Select the Blue + to input another answer. The maximum number of answers allowed is 20.
- Radio Buttons (Multiple Rows): A list of mutually exclusive answers with up to 5 choices each displayed in their own row. From right to left:
- Input the Answer in the Text field.
- Select a percentage of available score points for the answer in the Score % number selector. Users are allowed to enter only positive percentages (0% to 100%) in increments of 1%. Score calculations are rounded up if greater than 0.5.
- The N/A checkbox allows users to mark an answer as having no value or N/A.
- The Default button allows the user to choose a default answer to automatically populate on the evaluation. If no default answer is chosen, then the entire question’s radio buttons will be unselected for the evaluator.
- Select the Red X to delete an answer.
- Select the Blue + to input another answer. The maximum number of answer choices is 5.
- Radio Buttons (Single Row): A list of mutually exclusive answers with up to 5 choices all displayed in one single row.
- The Default Radio Button allows the user to choose a default answer to automatically populate on the evaluation. If no default answer is chosen, then the entire question’s radio buttons will be unselected for the evaluator.
- Select the Red X to delete an answer.
- Select the Blue + to input another answer. The maximum number of answer choices is 5.
- Even Distribution: A numerical scale that evenly distributes scores by percentage. Even Distribution also can be configured for reverse scoring by setting the maximum score lower than the minimum score.
- Enter or arrow up/down to the desired Minimum and Maximum values of the scale range. The numerical selector will accept any whole number between 0-250.
- The number of available points will be assigned when the question is created in the form. The points will be evenly distributed across the range of numbers. For example, a 10 minimum to 15 maximum numerical range will award points in 20% increments (10=0%; 11=20%; 12=40%; 13=60%; 14=80%; 15=100%). To reverse the score, set the maximum score lower than the minimum score. For example, 15 minimum and 10 maximum numerical range will award points in reverse. (15=0%; 14=20%; 13=40%; 12=60%; 11=80%; 10=100%)
- The Default Score numerical selector allows the user to choose a default answer to automatically populate on the evaluation. For example, a mid-range average number that an evaluator can score higher or lower if desired. The Default Score is typically blank by default.
- Drop-Down List: A standard drop-down list with up to 20 custom answer choices. From right to left:
- Reorder the scoring answer sets with the up and down arrows on the right. Selection order displayed represents display order of selections in evaluations drop-down.
- Once your scoring mode has been configured, click OK to save. The new Scoring Mode will be listed in the Custom Scoring Modes window in alphabetical order.
Enghouse Interactive recommends that when naming a new Scoring Mode that will only be used for one question, choose a name that easily defines where it used. For example, “Renewals_Group5_Question1”. Scoring Mode naming that will be used globally in multiple forms may have a generic name based on function such as “True/False”.
Please make sure any custom Scoring Modes created are free of spelling and scoring mistakes. Modifications cannot be made after the Scoring Mode is connected with a question.
